Warming Centers Planned In Preparation For Dangerously Cold Temperatures
WARSAW — Dangerous temperatures and wind chills are forecasted for much of next week.
In response, the city of Warsaw will host a daytime warming center for residents at the Pete Thorn Center (also the site of Kosciusko Community Senior Services), 800 North Park Ave. The warming center will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, through Friday, Feb.1.
Fellowship Missions, 1520 Winona Ave, is also providing cold weather relief during both daytime and overnight hours. The daytime warming center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Check-in for new individuals for the overnight warming center is from 1 to 4 p.m. each day. Individuals staying overnight may leave after check-in, but must return no later than 8 p.m. to keep their reserved cot.
The city encourages residents to check on family members and neighbors, bring pets inside, and only go outdoors if absolutely necessary.
