Grace Lands Three All-Leaguers
UPLAND – Grace’s track and field team enjoyed a successful meet at the Crossroads League Indoor Championships over the weekend.
The Lancers produced three All-League performers, had one league champion and broke three school records.
Isaac Brown headlined Grace’s performance at Taylor. He captured the league title as a freshman in the high jump by clearing 6-feet-8.75.
Fellow first-year Lancers Paul Brawner and Nordia Campbell also earned All-League honors. Campbell placed second in the 200-meter run in a time of 26.53 seconds, which broke a school record by 0.04. She went on to finish fourth in the 60 finals with a PR of 7.99.
Brawner placed third for All-League status in the 60 dash, beating his own school record with a time of 7.01.
Dylan Felger ran a school record in the men’s 200 at 22.78 to finish fourth. He was also fifth in the 400 at 51.26.
Grace had two runners place in the men’s 800; Kyle Smith ran 1:57.02 for fourth place, and Brendan Hamilton took eighth in 2:01.84. A day earlier, Smith raced to seventh-place finish in the 600.
The men’s 4×800 relay team of Luke Smith, Hamilton, Brady Willard and Kyle Smith finished fourth at 8:07.72.
Brown placed seventh in long jump, and his brother Caleb Brown placed in two events. Caleb was sixth in the weight throw (47-11.25) and had a PR in the shot put (46-3.5) for eighth place. William Shafer was right behind Caleb in the weight throw for seventh, and Ben Rankin finished eighth in the 5,000.
The Lancers continue the indoor postseason with the NCCAA National Indoor Championships starting Friday at Cedarville University (Ohio).
