Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accident:
12:01 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, East CR 900N, east of North Harper Road, Leesburg. Driver: Cory M. Aspy, 24, North Line Street, Columbia City. Aspy told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on CR 900N when a deer entered the roadway. He said he swerved to avoid hitting the deer, causing his vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a post on the side of the road. Aspy complained of pain to his head, but was checked out by emergency medical personnel and signed off of additional treatment or transport. Damage up to $2,500.
North Webster
Officers from the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accident:
12:21 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, North SR 13, south of East CR 500N, North Webster. Drivers: Nathanael P. Duncan, 22, CR 42, Nappanee; Franco De Gutierrez, 49, West CR 250S, Warsaw. Duncan told police he was driving his vehicle and was approaching an intersection when several vehicles began going around the vehicle driven by Gutierrez. He said at truck in front of him quickly passed the vehicle and he applied his brake, but was not able to stop his vehicle in time to avoid a rear-end collision with Gutierrez’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
Pierceton
Officers from the Pierceton Police Department investigated the following accident:
5:03 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, East US 30, east of East CR 200S, Pierceton. Driver: Rosemary M. Hepler, 31, Gull Harbor Court, Fort Wayne. Hepler told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on US 30 when she attempted to change lanes, causing her vehicle to slide on the road surface, leave the roadway and come to rest in the ditch. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
2:51 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, East Smith Street and South Park Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: E.A. Farmer, 33, County Farm Road, Claypool; Cesar J. Buitrago Campos, 18, Smith Street, Warsaw. Farmer told police he was driving his vehicle on East Smith Street and was attempting to turn left onto Park Avenue. He said he turned his vehicle too sharply, causing it to collide with the vehicle driven by Buitrago Campos. Farmer told police he was driving without insurance and with expired plates. He was cited for those infractions and his car was towed from the scene. There were no reported injuries in the crash. Damage up to $5,000.
