SYRACUSE — A fire, in what is believed to be an outdoor kitchen, was quickly extinguished this afternoon by firefghters with the Turkey Creek Fire Territory and Benton Township fire departments. The home is located on Boner Lake.

Firefighters were notified shortly before 4 p.m. of a house fire at 13630 N. Eastshore Drive, Syracuse, just north of Northshore Drive. An alert neighbor spotted smoke and upon investigation found a fire on the east side of the home and notified the fire department. The owners of the home were not at home but arrived shortly after firefighters arrived at the scene. The home is owned by Phil Champoux according to fire officials.

Fire damage is believed to have been contained to the outside kitchen area.

Benton Township Fire Department was called for a full assist.
