Chookie Pitches Way To Hanover
WARSAW – Warsaw Community High School multi-sport standout Courtney Chookie has announced her intention to attend Hanover College after her senior softball season, and the flame throwing school record holder looks forward to the opportunity to compete for Hanover softball.
Chookie, an honorable mention pick as a sophomore and All-Northern Lakes Conference First Team pick as a junior, enters her senior year in the circle for the Tigers already holding the career strikeout record.
Chookie not only dominated on the brick dust, she helped lead the Tigers on the volleyball court as well. The outside hitter earned program honors of Freshman Player of the Year in 2015, JV Player of the Year in 16, and she earned varsity letters in her junior and senior years. This past season Chookie’s leadership and work at the net helped the Tigers capture their first sectional title in nearly two decades.
A standout for Tiger athletics, Chookie has been a steady influence in the community as well. She has served Feed My Starving Children, worked both volleyball and softball youth camps, assisted at local elementary schools, and served on the committee with the Tim Tebow Night to Shine Prom.
Earning Scholar Athlete status in each of her first seven semesters, Chookie has amassed a 3.55 GPA. Chookie plans to major in kinesiology and integrative physiology at Hanover and compete for coach Cori Collinsworth and the Hanover Panthers. Hanover is a member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and the NCAA III.
