Grace Walks Off With Huge Sweep
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Late in Wednesday’s game, Grace’s baseball team found itself trailing 8-2 against Robert Morris.

The Eagles (6-3) started the game impressively with the bat. Robert Morris exploded for four runs in the third inning and opened up a 7-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth, Grace’s bats came to life. RJ Snyder hit a two-out single to score Chris Griffin, and David Anderson followed that up with another single to bring in Sam Newkirk.
Robert Morris plated another run in the top of the seventh to grab a commanding 8-2 lead, but Grace’s comeback was just getting started.
In the bottom of the sixth, Xavier Harris hit an RBI double to plate Houston Haney. Snyder and Anderson also had RBIs in the seventh, chopping Grace’s deficit to three.
The Eagles tacked on another run in the top of the eighth, but Grace responded with three runs of its own. Hunter Ackerman came home off a fielding error, Ethan Brooks scored on a sacrifice fly, and Branden Scott scored home after an RBI single by Snyder.
Grace still faced a 9-8 deficit heading into the bottom of the ninth. The Lancers quickly loaded the bases thanks to a single by Haney and a walk and hit batsman. Griffin hit a ground ball, and Haney made it home for the game-tying run.
Robert Morris was retired with three straight outs in the top of the 10th, setting the stage for Grace’s walkoff.
Scott reached base on an error to lead off the inning, and he reached third base with a sacrifice and a shallow single by Snyder.
Anderson then launched a deep fly ball to center field. The resulting throw to the plate went to the backstop, allowing Scott to slide in and beat the tag for the winning moment.
Snyder batted 4-of-7 from the leadoff position with three RBIs, and Anderson was 3-for-6 with two RBIs.
Haney had two hits and two runs, Harris and Ackerman each had two hits, and Scott plated three times.
