WCS 7th-Grade Students To Watch Showing of ‘Screenagers’
WARSAW — In order to equip students just entering their teenage years, Warsaw Community Schools 7th-grade students will be shown the film “Screenagers,” on March 22. This date is a makeup date due to weather cancellations on the dates of previous showings. The film focuses on the challenges of growing up and raising children during a digital age. In November, parents were able to attend a screening of the show however, due to weather cancellations, the student showing was postponed.
Students viewing the film will be able to learn about how personal digital devices affect school life; how social media affects relationships; how screen use can affect childhood development; and how vulnerable people can be to video game addiction and depictions of violence.
Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with insights from authors, psychologists and brain scientists, the film reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and also offers solutions on how adults and students can empower each other to best navigate the digital world and find balance.
