Clampitt Racing To IUPUI
WARSAW – Warsaw Community High School sprinter Makayla Clampitt has chosen to continue her academic and athletic career at IUPUI in Indianapolis.
Clampitt has been a top sprinter for the Lady Tiger track during her high school career. She received the “Top Sprinter” award in 2018 and the “Tiger Pride” award in 2017. She has been an NLC All-Conference member each season. Clampitt has also contributed to the Tigers NLC, Sectional, and Regional Championships during the 2016-18 seasons.
She was a state qualifier in the 4×100 relay in 2017, and a state qualifier in the 100-meter dash in 2018. Clampitt was also part of the Lady Tiger 4×100 team that set an NLC and sectional record in 2018. Clampitt has also had success in the indoor season, finishing 10th as a team in the state in 2018 while qualifying as a part of the 4×200 team.
Clampitt has also been involved off the track. She has served for Feed My Starving Children, assisted with elementary track meets, and spent time volunteering at local elementary schools. Clampitt has also been an honor roll member each semester at WCHS compiling a 10.13 GPA on a 12-scale.
Clampitt plans to major in nursing at IUPUI. She will join coaches Antonio McDaniel and Marissa Chew on the track to compete with the Jaguars. IUPUI is a member of the NCAA and Horizon League.
