Warsaw Community Career Center Announces April Events
WARSAW — The Warsaw Career Center offers monthly workshops that can be completed in increments, with assessments and certifications. This is the place to prepare for a growing business and manufacturing world that demands more digital literacy and online/tech skills. Goodwill also offers tuition support for individuals interested in becoming an IT support professional through Google courses hosted by Coursera. This certificate program can help you become ready for an entry-level job in IT support in about eight months. No experience is necessary.
All Career Center events are free and open to the public. The Community Career Center is located at 751 Anchorage Point Drive, Warsaw, adjacent to the Goodwill retail store.
The Beaman Home Outreach Hours
- 1 to 4 p.m. every Tuesday
Every Tuesday, The Beaman Home will hold outreach office hours at the Warsaw Goodwill Career Center from 1 to 4 p.m. to connect survivors of trauma, domestic abuse and sexual assault with services at The Beaman Home. Services include counseling, support group, life skills, job skills and case management. All services are free of charge.
Open Practice Interviews
- 11 a.m. to noon Monday, April 8

The Goodwill Career Center will host open mock interviews for anyone who would like to practice their interview skills. If you’re nervous about being interviewed or struggling to land a job because of the process, these mock sessions will prepare you for the types of questions, from basic to personal, that may be asked of you. We’ll discuss how to answer the difficult questions and what to avoid. Learn how to appear confident and highlight skills in a conversation. Another topic will be how personal appearance makes a great first impression. Please choose a date and time to stop by and practice interview skills and receive a 25 percent discount to the Goodwill retail store.
Hour Of Code
- 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 10
Learn the fundamentals of computer coding. Through an Hour of Code by Code.com, play various games such as Angry Birds and Plants vs. Zombies that will teach coding basics through fun, interactive challenges. Upon completion of an Hour of Code, you’ll earn a certification. An Hour of Code is for all ages and requires no prior coding or programming knowledge. All educational backgrounds are welcome.
Job Fair
- 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 16
The Goodwill Career Center is having a job fair. Representatives from the following businesses will be in attendance: Bowen Center, Elwood Staffing, Patrick Industries with Premiere Concepts and AIA Countertops, Home Helpers, and Taco Bell. All are hiring with positions that need to be filled as soon as possible. Dress professionally and bring an updated résumé to better your chances of landing a job.
Microsoft Excel Workshop
- 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, April 17
This class will introduce you to the Microsoft Excel program and its components. Learn the Excel language like cells, rows, and columns. Learn how to create and customize a spreadsheet, format, add worksheets, search and filter, and more. We’ll provide a basic presentation and then assessments are available to test your knowledge. You’ll also have an opportunity to earn a certificate upon demonstrated competency. No experience is needed to attend, and all skill levels are welcome.
Veterans Employment Services
- 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, April 18
Daniel Reed form WorkOne will be at the Goodwill Career Center to provide information for veterans on services in the local area. He will offer one-on-one employment help, employer resources, information on benefits and contacts for further services.
Résumé Building Virtual Workshop
- 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, April 24
Need a résumé or have one that’s old, outdated, or just needs a little more juice? Our first ever virtual/all-online workshop focuses on giving you the tools and advice to build or spruce up your résumé. We’ll demonstrate how to design a résumé from scratch by going over formatting, wording, key sections to highlight, and overall organization. We’ll utilize Microsoft Word to create this résumé and will provide an overview of key tools in the Word program. This workshop is 100 percent digital and will be live online through Goodwill’s Digital Skills website.

- After accessing the link, click on the Warsaw CC link under the header “Google Meet Links” and a new window will pop up.
- Click on Join the Meeting.
- This is a video and audio meet room where we will present the Résumé Building workshop. You do not need your camera or if you prefer to have it off, and your audio is only for asking questions; you can turn your camera and audio off whenever you would like to during the session. We will review how the Google Meet video interaction works before starting the visual presentation.
