Citizens Alert Police To Excess Traffic, Probe Nets Six Arrests
SYRACUSE — A Kosciusko County task force, acting on multiple complaints of excessive traffic and possible narcotics activity, conducted several traffic stops and served arrest warrants, which resulted in the arrests of six suspects April 10.
Vanessa Newman, 45, Milford, was arrested for maintaining a common nuisance; Jay Krauter, 50, Milford, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance; Angel Vining, 28, Syracuse, was arrested for maintaining a common nuisance and failure to appear; Michael Gross, 67, Syracuse, was arrested for maintaining a common nuisance; Kerry Kern, 34, Syracuse, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and driving while suspended; and Terry Dove, Jr., 35, Warsaw, was arrested for driving while suspended.
Responding to complaints, officers from the task force, known as NET 43, began conducting covert surveillance. According to a press release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation led to several traffic stops, which led to the arrests of Kern and Dove. Vining was taken into custody on a felony failure to appear warrant and during the execution of her arrest, several drug-related items were observed in plain sight inside of the residence, according to police.
Officers obtained a search warrant for the home and reported locating paraphernalia, marijuana and methamphetamine. Krauter, Newman and Gross were arrested, as a result of the residential search.
NET 43 was assisted by deputies from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office and patrolmen from the Milford, Syracuse and North Webster police departments.
