Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
7:34 a.m. Friday, April 12, North SR 19, north of West CR 900N, Nappanee. Driver: Paul S. Brandon, 43, Elm Road, Bourbon. Brandon was traveling north on SR 19 when his vehicle went off the roadway, striking a utility pole. Damage up to $25,000.
7:53 p.m. Thursday, April 11, East CR 500N, near North CR 675E, Leesburg. Drivers: Nicholas R. Murphy, 18, East CR 500N, Leesburg; and Jacob E. Heath, 21, East CR 1150N, Milford. Murphy’s vehicle was stopped at a stop sign. He did not notice Heath’s vehicle traveling westbound on CR 500N when he entered the westbound lane. Murphy’s vehicle struck Heath’s, causing damage. Damage up to $10,000.
3:47 p.m. Thursday, April 11, West Market Street, near North Second Street, Pierceton. Drivers: Nilamkumar S. Bhalshankar, 40, East Winona Avenue 4, Warsaw; and Kevin M. Ferguson, 54, North CR 400E, Warsaw. Bhalshankar stopped at an intersection and then proceeded through it, not noticing Ferguson’s vehicle traveling west on Market Street. Damage up to $2,500.
1:38 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, North CR 300E, south of East Defreese Road, Milford. Driver: Nathan S. Nibert, 32, East Brookfield Circle, Warsaw. Nibert was traveling south on CR 300E. A pedestrian, James R. Roder, 33, Claypool, was walking southbound on CR 300E. Nibert said he looked at his phone when he struck Roder with his vehicle. Nibert stated he never saw Roder until after he struck him. Roder complained of internal chest pain due to the accident. Damage up to $10,000.
Mentone
Officers with the Mentone Police Department investigated the following accident:
3:25 p.m. Monday, April 8, Franklin Street, near Main Street, Mentone. Drivers: David A. Dishman, 70, Mann Road, Indianapolis; and Vanis Marcum, 55, West CR 600N, Warsaw. Dishman said a car stopped ahead of him, causing him to stop his vehicle on the railroad tracks. While attempting to get off the tracks and cross the intersection, Dishman’s vehicle collided with Marcum’s. Damage up to $25,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
3:24 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, CR 300E, west of CR 1050N, Syracuse. Drivers: Destiny G. Hoyt, 18, East CR 550N, Warsaw; and Pamela S. Hodgson-Crosby, 35, East Orange Street, Cromwell. Hoyt traveled through an intersection after stopping and struck Hodgson-Crosby’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
12:11 p.m. Thursday, April 11, South Detroit Street, south of East Market Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Matthew L. Wells, 26, West CR 100S, Warsaw; and Jennifer E. Sommers, 34, EMS C27A Lane, Warsaw. Wells was traveling north on South Detroit Street when he rear-ended Sommers’ vehicle. Both parties were okay and did not request medical attention. Damage up to $10,000.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accidents:
4:48 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 301 S. CR 400W, Columbia City. Drivers: Brandon K. Eber, 23, West SR 205, Columbia City; and Christopher D. Rager, 45, Warsaw. Wabash County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from Kosciusko County units while in pursuit of Eber’s vehicle. As Eber and Rager’s vehicles entered a field, Eber turned his vehicle into Rager’s patrol vehicle, causing front end damage. Damage up to $25,000.
8:25 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 99 Chestnut St., Winona Lake. Driver: Daniel T. Engle, 45, South Hardwick Drive Southeast, Grand Rapids, Mich. Engle was traveling east on Kings Highway when he attempted to make a U-turn in the Winona Lake Lake City Bank parking lot. As he did so, his vehicle’s trailer caught telephone cable lines hanging across the parking lot and pulled them down. These lines were attached to the bank building and pulled the north gable of the building down. Damage up to $10,000.
