NORTHWOOD 4, ELKHART MEMORIAL 1
NorthWood put together straight set wins in its four court triumphs Tuesday in Elkhart.
All three of NorthWood’s singles players took care of business, led by Gretchen Adams at 6-1, 6-1 over Razel Martinez at No. 3. Alex Jesse at No. 2 cruised two and one over Callan Kubiak and Reegan Miller put away Eva Morales love and three at No. 1.
Caroline Mullet and Kate Stillson won at No. 2 doubles by taking down Emma Yohn and Abby Wohlschlager 6-2, 6-3 to wrap up NorthWood’s high points.
Memorial pulled out the No. 1 doubles match, with Megan Huys and Jessica Dibley earning a 6-4, 6-1 win over Lauren Mikel and Riley Graber.
NorthWood swept all seven of the JV courts, won in singles play by Abigail Vorhis, Jessica Kramp and Reese Barhydt.
NorthWood (4-1, 1-1 NLC) hosts Plymouth in a key conference matchup Thursday.
TIPPECANOE VALLEY 4, LAVILLE 1
The Vikings got strong play from its doubles teams to overwhelm LaVille in Akron.
Kaitlin Neese and Haley Baker rolled at No. 2 over Mackenzie Stephenson and Grace Carlisle while Tiphanie Hodge and Makenna Bradley came together to post a 6-4, 6-0 win over Bre Daniels and Ally Maenhout.
Gigi Engstrand withstood Allison Gadaez to pull out a 6-3, 7-5 win at three singles, and after losing the first set 6-0 and falling behind 4-0 in the second, Hannah Parson rallied to win set two 7-5, then closed out Taylor Garrett 6-2 at two singles.
Charlet Kapka topped Mackenzie Costello for LaVille’s only court win at one singles.
Valley (2-0) hosts Whitko Thursday in Three Rivers Conference play.
TRITON 3, WHITKO 2
Triton earned its second win in as many days after both its doubles teams and its three singles came through with court victories.
The Trojans doubles duos won 24 of 26 games to gain straight sets, Lexia Hostrawser and Emma Hepler shutting out Kylie Fugett and Jaycie Thomas at No. 1 and Haley Hooley and Madison Davis giving up just two games to Bailey Wright and Francesca Taddei.
At No. 3 singles, Ivy Powell pieced together a 6-2, 6-3 clincher against Katherine Ousley.
Whitko claimed wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, Mahkinsey Myers taking the second court 6-3, 6-4 over Maddie Ritchison while Kayla Schipper pulled out a 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) slugfest with Molly McFarland.
Triton (2-3) plays for the third day in a row Wednesday in a Hoosier North Athletic Conference match at LaVille.
PLYMOUTH 4, WARSAW 1
Plymouth was stout in its victory over Warsaw in a Northern Lakes Conference showdown in Marshall County.
Singles play was all Pilgrims, with Kyla Heckaman winning love and two over Alyssa Zellers at No. 1, Miranda German going one and love over Taylor Schoaf at No. 2, and Aubrey Vervynckt shutting out Rachel Boyle at No. 3.
Mary Beatty and Audie Plothow rallied to catch Rachel Yeager and Raegan Merchant 6-0, 4-6, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles.
Warsaw got its only win from Maddie Ray and Amy Herendeen in a 6-2, 6-3 result over Alaina Clady and Olive Stanton.
Warsaw would take 10 of the 11 JV courts. Grabbing singles wins for Warsaw in the junior ranks were Izzy Ray, Gracie Lewis, Anastasia Kalikova and Elena Sullivan.
Warsaw (1-1, 0-1 NLC) hosts Northridge Wednesday afternoon.
