AGT Hopeful Records Classic 1980s Tune
WARSAW — Local musician and America’s Got Talent hopeful Mark Allen has released a cover of one of pop music’s catchiest songs.
Mark Allen, 50, a local singer, songwriter and guitarist has been clearing hurdles in the auditioning process for America’s Got Talent, a popular television talent show. In between auditions, while touring local nightclubs to hone his craft, he collaborated with a California producer and recorded a cover version of Tommy Tutone’s “867-5309/Jenny,” which is available for listening and sharing on social media and soon available on other music distribution sites.
“They (fans) can listen to it on Facebook,” Allen said. “Everything’s done with it in two weeks with this company I’m working with called TuneCore, and they will distribute all my music to I Heart Radio, to ITunes, to YouTube to Apple to Spotify, all of those. They (fans) can share this for me on Facebook, and when we go to YouTube, they can go on there and like it and just get it global.”

Allen said he part of a backlog of talented hopefuls awaiting a call that will take them to Hollywood, Calif. for the final audition before the new season debuts in May.
“They contacted me and said ‘just have a little patience, we’re getting to everybody right now to schedule them to come out to Hollywood,’” Allen said.
“If I make it past them, I get to go to the TV show,” he continued. “That could take place anywhere from two weeks ago all the way to the end of this month,” he said, adding that he could also receive a call letting him know he did not make it to the next stage.
