Local Attorney Transported To Kosciusko County Jail, Initial Hearing Set
KOSCIUSKO — A local attorney who is facing felony charges was officially booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Thursday, April 18.
Scott Joseph Lennox, 50, Warsaw, is being charged with two counts of fraud on a financial institution, level 5 felonies; and six counts of theft, level 6 felonies. A bond was set of $6,750 surety and cash.
Lennox was originally arrested on Monday, April 15, at a motel in West Lansing, Mich.
On the same day, through his attorney, Alexander Hoover, Lennox filed a motion to recall his warrant and set the issue for an initial hearing. The motion argued that Lennox “assured counsel” he would appear at all future hearings in the matter. The motion also stated that Lennox owns property in the area and has lived and operated a business in the area for many years. It argued that Lennox himself is a “practicing member of the legal community in good standing with many years of experience who appreciates and has no intention of interfering with the judicial process.” The last argument made was that Lennox is not a flight risk.
Marshall County Judge Dean Colvin denied the motion on April 15 and a transport order for Kosciusko County was entered.
Lennox is ordered to appear for his initial hearing at 2 p.m. April 25, in Marshall County Superior Court 2. Judge Colvin will preside over the hearing because Kosciusko County judges have recused themselves from the case.
The criminal charges against Lennox allege that he stole business funds from the law firm Lennox, Sobek & Buehler, LLC. Read more about the charges here.
