Flavor Freeze Opens For Business; Dollar Tree To Fill Vacant Aldi Store
WARSAW — Flavor Freeze, which has a long history in Elkhart County, moved into the Warsaw market and opened for business on Monday, April 22.
The ice cream store at 2950 Frontage Road renovated and filled the vacancy created by Sprint.
The company has been in existence since 1966, has two locations in Elkhart County and offers a wide variety of menu items.
Flavor Freeze is owned by Tony Adams and Jeff Rank. The Warsaw store will employ about 15 people.
“I think once people learn we are here, we’ll get a good following,” Adams said. “We have an amazing following in Elkhart. We just got to start from scratch here and try to build upon it.”
Adams said they opened for business on Monday to work out any bugs associated with the opening before experiencing the rush of weekend business traffic.
The location’s hours are noon to 9 p.m.
According to the city of Warsaw, Dollar Tree has received a building permit for work at 3701 Commerce Drive, which is where Aldi had a store. However, in October 2017, Aldi’s moved to a new Parker Street location in Warsaw.
Dollar Tree has more than 100 stores in Indiana, including one near CR 300N in Warsaw, according to its website.
Attempts to talk with a representative at the local store or the company’s corporate office in Chesapeake, Va., were unsuccessful Monday.
It appears the store on Commerce Drive still needs significant renovations inside before it is ready to open.
