Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
2:16 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, North SR 19, north of West CR 450N, Etna Green. Driver: Tabitha M. McCoy, 38, West CR 575N, Etna Green. McCoy told police she was driving her vehicle northbound on SR 19 when a turkey entered the roadway. She told police she was unable to avoid hitting the turkey with her vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
8:20 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, East CR 700N and North CR 200E, Leesburg. Drivers: Marissa A. Raspiller, 25, Bear Creek Court, Leo; Richard A. Barth, 69, Wedgewood Drive, South Bend. Raspiller told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on CR 700N and was trying to open her coffee when she looked up and saw Barth’s vehicle turning in front of her. She said she was unable to slow her vehicle in time to avoid a rear-end collision. Damage up to $50,000.
11:15 p.m. Sunday, April 21, South SR 15, north of West CR 550S, Claypool. Driver: Alice Yoder, 63, Mecca Drive, Sarasota, Fla. Yoder told police she was driving her vehicle northbound on SR 15 when a deer entered the roadway. She told police she was unable to avoid hitting the deer with her vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
Milford
Officers from the Milford Police Department investigated the following accident:
4:50 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, North Higbee Street and West Catherine Street, Milford. Drivers: Kaylea J. Fletcher, 19, CR 133, Syracuse; James P. Barber, 70, Nancy Street, Warsaw. Fletcher told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on Catherine Street and that she was stopped at an intersection when she was waved into the intersection by the driver of a white truck. She she entered the intersection, her vehicle was struck by Barber’s vehicle, which was traveling northbound. A passenger in Barber’s vehicle, Martha Barber, 68, was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital with injuries to her right leg. Damage up to $25,000.
Winona Lake
Officers from the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
11:14 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, Pink Magnolia Drive, east of Redwood Road, Winona Lake. Driver: Leann G. Gutwein, 77, Pink Magnolia Drive, Winona Lake. Gutwein told police she had just rented her vehicle and had not noticed any damage prior to renting. She told police she returned home from a trip to a local store and noticed damage to the vehicle. The police officer at the scene also noticed animal hair in the dent. It was unclear when the damage was done. Damage up to $2,500.
