WAWASEE INVITE

NorthWood claimed runner-up honors at a soggy Wawasee Invite at South Shore Golf Club.

The Panthers shot a 326 to sit second in the standings of the 15-team field, only shy of Chesterton, which posted a 316 to win the team title. Devin Trusty of the Trojans claimed the medalist honors with a three-over 74.

Plymouth was third at 328, followed by Wawasee’s Gold roster at 329 and Westview at 334 to round out the top five. Whitko (365) and Wawasee’s Green (394) were among others in the field.

NorthWood hung around the top of the leaderboard with Taylor Weigand posting a runner-up score of 76 and teammate Sean Hogan carded an 80 to finish tied for seventh.

Wawasee had Zach Leedy post a 77 to tie for third and Evan Dippon shoot 81 to tie for tenth. Dillon Drake was one back at 82.

NorthWood visits Culver Academy for a trio with Marian on Monday then joins Wawasee Tuesday for the Joe Harris Shootout.

HALL OF FAME INVITE

Warsaw didn’t respond to the conditions Saturday at the prestigious tournament at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru. The Tigers placed 15th in the 17-team field with 351 points. Center Grove, the 2017 state champions, shot a sizzling 301 to claim the tournament title. It’s ace, Luke DeHaven, fired a one-under 71 to earn medalist honors.

Warsaw had Cal Hoskins pace the team with a 78, which placed him within the top 20 for the tournament. Zach LaLonde had an 87, with Chase Byron, Seth Hildebrand and Tucker Carlile in the chase.

Warsaw’s varsity competes again Tuesday in the Joe Harris Shootout.

LAFAYETTE JEFF INVITE

Warsaw’s JV squad headed to Battle Ground outside of Lafayette to compete in the Jeff tourney at Battle Ground Golf Course.

Warsaw placed tenth in the field with 369 points, well short of champion Zionsville with its 314 team score. Zionsville’s Brian Behrens and Carmel’s Shoji Fujita each scored medalist honors with their 75s for the tournament.

Lewis Turley turned in Warsaw’s top score with an 88, with Jack Yeager, Ben Branderm Will Hall and Mason Whitaker all getting experience against some of the state’s best.
