Musky Club Teams With DNR To Secure Additional Lake Access Parking
KOSCIUSKO — A local club dedicated to the sport of catching and managing the population of a storied predator fish has announced its partnership with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources to give the state organization another area to improve local lake access.
“For the last four years, we have been raising money through raffles and outings to assist the DNR,” said Sean Bergsma, a board member with the Webster Lake Musky Club. “This past winter, we began the process of finding donors and other organizations to help us purchase a plot of land that we would then donate to the DNR so that it can be converted to allow for better public access to the Barbee chain of lakes and prevent overflow from reaching residential areas.”
According to Bergsma, the plot of land is located near the Kuhn Lake public access boat ramp and will be used to create additional parking for lake goers. Bergsma said the lot of land was valued at $42,000 but that the club was able to purchase the land for $30,000.
