Jim Zachary (R) defeated Thelia Banta in the Republican primary for District 1 on Winona Lake’s Town Council seat Tuesday.

WARSAW — Jim Zachary defeated incumbent Thelia Banta in the Winona Lake Town Council Republican primary race for the District 1 seat Tuesday night.

Results for the lone contested race in Winona Lake were announced shortly before 7 p.m. — just an hour after polls closed.

Zachary had 73 percent of the vote total with 301 votes. Banta had 111 votes.
