Plymouth Holds On To Win Culver Academy Invite
PLYMOUTH – Despite playing in a tournament hosted by a rival school, Plymouth was at home Saturday. Course familiarity at Pretty Lake Golf Club surely helped the Pilgrims fend off Culver Academy to win the championship at the Culver Academy Invite on Saturday.
Plymouth fired a 303 to best Culver Academy by one stroke and Triton by four at the top of the 16-team field. Plymouth had three of its top four shoot in the 70s, led by a 76 by Bryce Carmichael. Matthew Gerard’s 77 and Chapman Yoder’s 78, along with an 82 from Owen Yoder, pushed the Pilgrims to the title.
The Academy were led by a 77 from Mikey Perea and 79 from AJ Davidson.
Triton’s 307 were highlighted by a 77 from Cole McKinney and 81s from Beau Hepler and Keegan Westafer. Chase Butler had an 83 as its fourth score.
Warsaw were fourth at 311, with two outstanding scores of 74 from Cal Hoskins and 76 from Zach LaLonde. Seth Hildebrand posted 84 and Tucker Carlile had 87 for the Tigers.
Wawasee’s 357 saw the Warriors turn in scores of 87 from Zach Leedy, 90 from Evan Dippon, 94 from Dillon Drake and 96 from Jared Krugman.
NorthWood shot 366 and had an 84 from Sean Hogan, 94 from Kyle Cripe and 99s by Cooper Wiens and Keaton Kitson.
Lafayette Harrison’s Nic Hofman had the round of the day, shooting 73 for medalist honors.
