Upcoming Events At Syracuse Library
Once in a Blue Moon
The full moon in May is a blue moon. The Syracuse library is bringing stories and moon facts to a full moon viewing at 8 p.m. May 18. The walk begins at the community center and ends with a view of the moon over the water at Henry Ward Park.
The moon viewing ends a week that begins on Monday, May 13, with Mahjong at 1 p.m. and Dungeons and Dragons at 4:30 p.m.
Tuesday’s schedule starts with easy chair yoga at 10:15 a.m. where all that is needed is a large towel. A discussion of the book “Bless me, Ultima,” the choice of this year’s Kosciusko Community Read, meets at 4:30 p.m. Even those who haven’t yet read the book will find interesting topics for discussion.
WorkOne, the Indiana job center, is now offering their services upstairs, every Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Save a trip out of town by coming to WorkOne at the Syracuse Library.
Thursday, May 16, begins with a walk in the cool morning air. Those ready for a moderate exercise experience meet at 9 a.m. to walk the numerous public roads around the library. A half-hour of advanced chair yoga begins at 9:30 a.m. Through summer, a restorative chair yoga class is available on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. All yoga classes are free.
Thursday evening at 5 p.m. two groups meet. Teen gaming gives young people time to compete on the Wii U, Nintendo Switch and games on the Xbox. String Theory, an informal group that encourages the completion of fiber projects, meets in the upstairs sofa area.
