Martha Edna Ross
Martha Edna Ross, 80, Rochester, passed away at 5:56 a.m., June 2, 2019, at Mease Dunedin Hospital in Dunedin, Fla.
In Detroit Michigan, on May 11, 1939, Martha Edna Johns was born. She was a cherished daughter of Wolford Dixon and Mary Roncone Johns. Growing up she shared her childhood with two sisters and a brother.
On July 9, 1979, Martha and Charles Richard Ross were married in Marcum, Ill. They shared 39 years of life’s adventures.
A woman who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, she embraced nature while sitting on her porch or gazebo and watched the seasons of the Tippecanoe River. Penny slots were her favorite game when she visited the casinos in southwest Michigan or northern Indiana. Some of her best memories were made while camping at Broken Arrow Campground in Winamac and visiting her neighbors, tooling around on her golf cart. Cruising to the Bahamas, allowing for much fun, relaxation and making new friends. The very best of times were spent with her family at special celebrations or the holidays.
Left to cherish Martha Ross’ memory are a daughter, Marda Ann Vogel, of Osceola; a son: Donald Johns and wife Suzanne of Rochester; four step-sons: Charles J. Ross and wife Deborah of Delong; Tony Ross and wife Vicki of Monticello; Mark Ross and wife Denise of Wheatfield; Carty Joe Ross and wife Peggy of Wyoming; 27 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister Deloris “Dolly” Smith of Chicago; a brother Lloyd Chester Johns of Utica, Mich.; a special friend and partner in crime; Linda Johnson of Dunedin, Fla., several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Martha in death are her parents Wolford and Mary Johns; her beloved husband Charles Richard Ross on May 10, 2018 and a sister Shirley Johns.
A celebration of the life of Mrs. Martha Edna Ross will be at 2 p.m., on Saturday, June 8, 2019, in the Delong Gospel Lighthouse, 5823 Center St., Delong. Pastor Pat Allen will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 4-7 p.m., Friday, June 7, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester and two hours prior to the service in the church. Interment will be in the Leiters Ford Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Delong Gospel Lighthouse, PO Box 650, Delong, IN 46922
