Nila J. Born, 58, Columbia City, passed away at 10:06 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Parkview Regional Medical Center.

Born June 14, 1960, in Columbia City, she was the daughter of Charles Leckrone and Myrna (Brown) Yancey.

She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1979. She had been a CNA at Miller’s Merry Manor and The Oaks following high school. She would go on to retire from Passages after over 20 years of service. She had a great sense of humor, a heart of gold, was a caretaker and loved being with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her two sons: Kevin (Christina) Leckrone, Columbia City; and Troy Born, Columbia City; sisters: Lila Leckrone, Mary (Victor Angulo Jr.) Brown and Debra Brown; five grandsons; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son: Gregory Leckrone; a granddaughter: Crystal Scott; and infant brother: Raymond Brown, Jr.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. A time for sharing will begin at 3 p.m. She will be laid to rest beside her mom at Greenhill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in her memory toward her final expenses, I.C.O. DeMoney-Grimes.
