Blown Tire Sends Dump Truck Into Woods
SYRACUSE — A blown tire on a dump truck sent the driver, the truck he was driving and the load of stone into a ditch and wooded area along SR 13, south of Syracuse.
The accident occurred around 3:35 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, when Kosciusko County Central Dispatch received a call of a minor personal injury accident on SR 13, south of CR 650E, south of the Sleepy Owl restaurant. What officers and first responders found was a dump truck hauling crushed sandstone off the east side of the road down a ditch and into a grove of trees.
Barry Lamb, 45, Warsaw, was the driver of the 1999 International dump truck. He was northbound on SR 13 when the tire blew, causing the dump truck to go off the roadway. Lamb was able to get out of the vehicle. He had no complaint of injuries and was checked by paramedics.
Until the truck could be removed, north and southbound traffic on SR 13 was rerouted onto North Southshore Drive.
Turkey Creek Fire Territory Fire Department and paramedics, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office and Syracuse Police responded.
