UPDATE — One Dead, Four Injured In US 30 Crash
WARSAW — At approximately 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, Lutheran EMS and Atwood Fire Department were called to the scene of a two-vehicle accident on West US 30, near North Fox Farm Road in Warsaw.
Information in a press release from Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office indicates the driver of the 2012 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was slowing in the left hand lane to assist a motorist stopped along the westbound side of US 30. Christopher Graber, 58, Warsaw, told officers that he was activating his hazard lights when his pickup was struck in the rear by a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan.
The driver of the Dodge Caravan, Amanda Hench, 32, Warsaw, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Kosciusko County coroner’s office.
Extrication was needed to free the front seat passenger of the Dodge Caravan, identified as Christine Hench, 54, Warsaw.
Other passengers in the Dodge Caravan included Martha Paxton, 75, Warsaw, and two children, a seven-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy.
Christine Hench was reported to have suffered multiple broken bones and ribs; Paxton suffered leg and facial injuries; the seven-year-old girl suffered chest injuries and there is no current information on the four-year-old boy’s injuries.
All patients were transported to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Graber was not injured.
This crash remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Fatal Team.
