Forecast Revised, High Temp Friday Could Reach 96
WARSAW — The National Weather Service has revised its predicted high temperature for Friday and Saturday to 96.
The weather service has issued an excessive heat warning that begins Thursday afternoon and continues into Saturday.
Local communities have already announced plans for several cooling centers.
The high for Thursday, July 18, is expected to top out at 93.
On Friday, the weather service predicts the heat index could reach as high as 111. The low Friday night will be 77.
On Saturday, there will be a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 96. Southwest winds will be 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Sunday includes a chance for storms and a high of 86.
The heat is part of a large system moving slowly over the country’s midsection.
