Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
6:48 a.m. Monday, July 22, SR 25 and CR 1150W, Mentone. Driver: Jacob R. Long, 36, West CR 600S, Mentone. Long’s vehicle struck a deer. Long was treated at the scene but was not taken to the hospital by EMS. Long had injuries to his head, arms and hands. Damage up to $5,000.
9:28 p.m. Sunday, July 21, East CR 200N, east of Husky Trail, Warsaw. Driver: Dawn R. Armey, 45, Country Club Drive, Warsaw. Armey’s vehicle struck a deer. Damage up to $10,000.
4:03 a.m. Sunday, July 21, SR 19, south of West Moore Road, Nappanee. Driver: William R. Thompson, 50, Main Street, Warsaw. Thompson’s vehicle struck a deer. Damage up to $2,500.
10:53 p.m. Friday, July 19, SR 19 and West CR 1100N, Nappanee. Driver: Lavon D. Miller, 27, West CR 600N, Warsaw. Steven Miller told police that he was riding his bicycle and that his wife was riding her bicycle in front of him. Steven Miller said he and his wife both had rear facing red lights on their bikes and that both of them were wearing reflective vests. Steven Miller was still wearing his reflective vest while speaking with the officer. Steven Miller said he and his wife were riding their bikes south on SR 19 when a truck began to approach them from the rear. According to Steven Miller, he and his wife could see in their mirrors that the truck was not moving over to avoid them so they moved to the edge of the road as far over as they could. Steven Miller stated he was struck in the back by the passenger side mirror of Lavon Miller’s truck and knocked from his bicycle. Steven Miller reported having pain in his shoulder and said he could not raise his arm or use it. Lutheran EMS responded and took Steven Miller to Goshen General Hospital for treatment. Lavon Miller said he thought he got over far enough but realized he didn’t when he heard his truck strike one of the subjects on the bikes. Lavon Miller stopped his vehicle and assisted Steven Miller and his wife. Damage up to $50,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
9:16 a.m. Monday, July 22, Argonne Road, north of Market Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Mary A. Sutton, 65, Hobart Court, Warsaw; and Robert L. Hepburn, 66, Cleveland Street, Warsaw. Sutton was stopped at the intersection of Market and Argonne. Sutton began making a left turn onto Argonne Road and her vehicle struck Hepburn’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
