Jean Landis

Jean M. Landis, 89, Marion, passed away at 3:30 a.m. on July 27, 2019, at Wellbrooke of Westfield.

She was born in Fort Wayne on April 4, 1930, to the late Marion and Bernice (Klopfenstein) Witmer. She was married to Albert R. Landis, Jr., who preceded her in death.

Jean graduated from the Indiana University School of Nursing and was a supervising nurse for over 30 years. She retired from Marion General Hospital.

She enjoyed quilting and became a member of the Grant County Quilting Club. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Marion.  Jean enjoyed reading and traveling.  She was very dedicated to the education of her children, especially by taking them on family vacations to historical destinations. She will be remembered as a dedicated, compassionate and loving woman who will be missed by everyone who knew her.  

Survivors include her son, Mark A. (Sheryl) Landis, Mineral Bluff, Ga.; granddaughter, Madison (Phong) Tien, Westfield; grandsons, Boyd R. Landis and Luke A. Landis, both of Upper Arlington, Ohio; great-grandson, Kaiden Tien; great-granddaughter, Natalie Tien; sister, Janice Fox of San Diego, Calif.; daughters-in-law, Micki Landis-Helvaty of Westfield and Toni Landis of Upper Arlington, Ohio; one niece and one great-niece; son-in-law, John Linville; as well as several cousins and extended relatives.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan K. (John) Landis-Linville, and brother, Wayne Witmer.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday,  Aug. 5, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion.

Immediately following the time of visitation, Jean’s funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at Estates of Serenity.
