Warsaw Woman Arrested After Allegedly Stealing Money From Vending Machines
WARSAW — A Warsaw woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing money from vending machines.
Jaylin Shyanne Dunn, 25, 923 S. Union St., Warsaw, is being charged with three counts of theft, all level 6 felonies.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on April 17, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s officer spoke with an official from AVI Food Systems who said money had been stolen from their vending machines at Maple Leaf and Serenade Food, located in Kosciusko County. It was determined that $12,112 was stolen from the machines over a period of time.
The officer received information that Dunn is the only person who collects money from the machines. The money is then placed in a safe by Dunn and brought to AVI Food Systems for counting.
The counting area has strict procedures, rules and video, and it was determined that the money could not have been taken in the counting area. The vending machines automatically count the money, and that amount is compared to the amount of money in the money bags.
Although court documents did not give specifics related to the entire $12,112, police were provided with paperwork showing that $1,514.95 was stolen in December 2018; $2,044.69 was stolen in January 2019; and $1,691.63 was stolen in February 2019.
In February Dunn was interviewed in reference to the stolen money, and she denied taking the money. She resigned from AVI on Feb. 18.
Officials with AVI advised that with their current money collection system, Dunn is the only person who could have stolen the money.
Dunn was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail July 30 on a $4,000 surety and cash bond.
