Warsaw Woman Arrested For Allegedly Battering Man With Special Needs
WARSAW — A Warsaw woman was recently arrested after allegedly battering a man with special needs.
Britanie Kay Marie Johnson, 22, 340 E. Levi Lee Road #66, Warsaw, is being charged with battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Aug. 1, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office went to an undisclosed residence in regards to a fight. Officers had already been to the residence earlier in the day for the same issue. In the previous call, both Johnson and the victim agreed to stay separated for the rest of the evening.
According to court documents, Johnson told officers she got into another argument with the victim, who has Asperger’s Syndrome and has special needs. Johnson said she used the back door to enter the residence in order to avoid physical contact with the victim. While entering the residence, Johnson’s son began to cry. The victim told Johnson to grab some milk and a diaper and threw a sippy cup and a clean diaper in the room Johnson was in. None of these items struck Johnson.
Johnson told the officer she shoved the victim and left. The officer then talked with the victim, who said that after Johnson shoved him, she picked up a baby gate and hit him with it. The officer noticed several small cuts and a large red mark on the victim’s right elbow. Johnson said she did pick up a baby gate and swing it at the victim but didn’t believe she hit him.
Johnson was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 1, with a $600 cash bond.
