North Webster Library Hosts Writer’s Corner For Adults
NORTH WEBSTER — It’s never too early to begin instilling the love of books into a young child. During Lapsit Story Time at North Webster Community Public Library, parents and their babies and toddlers have fun exploring books and stories together.
With registration beginning Aug. 20, Lapsit Story Time will be held at 11 a.m. every Tuesday and Friday from Sept. 3 through Nov. 21. Children 36 months and younger and their parents explore board books with brief stories, sing songs with hand motions, and engage in meaningful play. Parents also learn about resources for early literacy development. Parents can sign up for Lapsit Story Time at the Youth Services Desk or call (574) 834-7122 ext. 202.
Adults can also hone literacy skills by participating in Writer’s Corner at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, and Summer Book Club later that day at 5:30 p.m. At Writer’s Corner, each participant will be sharing compositions they have written about an illness. Next month’s writing assignment will be to write about a festival.
Summer Book Club will be discussing “When the Men Were Gone” by Marjory Herrera Lewis. September’s book selection “The Secrets We Carried” by Mary McNear will also be available. Stop by and pick up a copy at the circulation desk and join the discussion on Sept. 16.
An informal time of adult coloring will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21. Bring your own coloring sheets and supplies and enjoy coloring and chatting. The fire it up with “Let’s Move” at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22. This fitness class combines dancing with exercise for a lively, fun workout. It’s free and open to adults of all ages and fitness levels.
