Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accident:
6:16 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, North SR 15, north of West CR 600N, Leesburg. Driver: Arnulfo Delgado, 30, North CR 200W, Warsaw. Delgado told police he was driving his vehicle with a trailer south on SR 15 and that the trailer started to sway, causing him to lose control of the vehicle, which left the roadway. The trailer turned onto its side. Damage up to $2,500.
Claypool
Officers from the Claypool Police Department investigated the following accident:
6:52 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, South County Farm Road, south of CR 550S, Claypool. Driver: Bradly A. Johnson, 47, Normandy Lane, Warsaw. Johnson told police he was driving his vehicle north on County Farm Road when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Milford
Officers from the Milford Police Department investigated the following accident:
1:24 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, East CR 1200N, north of East Bowser Road, Syracuse. Driver: Daniel Buell, 39, East Country Cove Drive, Syracuse. Buell told police he was driving his vehicle north on East Bowser Road when he lost control of his vehicle on a curve, causing it to leave the roadway and come to rest in a bean field. Buell was transported by a law enforcement officer to Goshen Hospital for evaluation. Damage up to $50,000.
Syracuse
Officers from the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accidents:
3:16 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, North Huntington Street, Syracuse. Driver: Austin Baker, 17, East Country Cove Drive, Syracuse. Baker backed his vehicle out of a parking spot at the police station and backed it into a light pole. Damage up to $2,500.
4:10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, East Defreese Road, Syracuse. Driver: Kurt Elder, 60, EMS W16 Lane, North Webster. Elder was pulled over by police and told officers he had been in an accident previous to the traffic stop. He took officers to the spot where his vehicle had run off the road and damaged a fence and hay field. Elder was given a citation and arrested for leaving the scene. Damage up to $2,500.
9:22 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, North Indiana Avenue, south of CR 1400N, Syracuse. Driver: Nicholas Bradley, 37, North TK Way, North Webster. Bradley told police he was driving his vehicle south on North Indiana Street when he struck a juvenile pedestrian he had not seen. The pedestrian was checked out by medics and released into the custody of his parents. Damage up to $1,000.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
3:56 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, US 30 and South CR 250E, Warsaw. Drivers: Sharon Yates, 77, Cara Drive, Troy, Ohio; Elizabeth D. Manley, 75, EMS B38C Lane, Leesburg. Yates told police she was driving her vehicle north on CR 250E and that she wanted to turn east on US 30, but got into the wrong lane, she said she thought the vehicle driven by Manley was also going to turn right and that she made her turn, causing her vehicle to strike Manley’s vehicle, which was continuing north. Damage up to $5,000.
8:46 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, Ranch Road, north of Pheasant Ridge Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Sonia Hidalgo, 45, Salman Drive, Warsaw; Thomas Danner, 26, Laurelwood Drive, Warsaw. Hidalgo told police she was driving her vehicle east on Pheasant Ridge Drive and that when she began to turn left on Ranch Road, her vehicle struck the vehicle driven by Danner, which she had not previously seen. Damage up to $5,000.
5:37 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, West Center Street and South Lake Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Carly Black, 26, West CR 325S, Larwill; Sandra Cacahua-Mendez, 26, East Old Road 30, Warsaw. Cacahua-Mendez told police she was driving her vehicle east on Center Street and that she had a green light to enter the intersection with Lake Street. She said when she entered the intersection, her vehicle was struck by the vehicle driven by Black. Damage up to $10,000.
10:04 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, East Fort Wayne Street and North Reed Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Michael Brown, 49, East Clark Street, Warsaw; Phillip Nelson, 76, East Market Street, Warsaw. Brown told police he was driving his vehicle southbound in an alley and that his vehicle collided with the vehicle driven by Nelson, which was eastbound on Fort Wayne Street. Damage up to $10,000.
6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, South Buffalo Street and Kincaide Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Louji Helser, 23, Heron Boulevard, Warsaw; Brandon Nissley, 24, Cortland Avenue, Fort Wayne. Helser told police he was driving his vehicle south on Buffalo Street and that he took his eyes off the road, causing his vehicle to collide with the rear of the vehicle driven by Nissley. Damage up to $5,000.
5:28 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, SR 15 and East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Jonathon Borkholder, 23, West CR 400S, Warsaw; Elizabeth Rodriguez, 28, Rozella Road, Warsaw. Borkholder told police he was riding his moped south on SR 15 and that his moped collided with the rear of the vehicle driven by Rodriguez. Damage up to $2,500.
11:16 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, North McKinley Street and East Center Street, Warsaw. Driver: Elyse C. Dunham, 20, Hugel Hill Street, Schererville. Dunham told police she was driving her vehicle south on North McKinley Street and that while stopped at a stop sign, she was rear-ended by another vehicle. She said she motioned the the other driver to a parking lot and that that driver pulled into the parking lot, but left out the other end of the parking lot. Dunham took the license plate of the vehicle, which is registered to Brooklyn Sanchez, East Wooster Road, Pierceton. Damage up to $5,000.
Winona Lake
Officers from the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accidents:
1:53 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, Parker Street, south of US 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Ronald D. Burns, 68, Roy Street, Winona Lake; Pauline McCammon, 77, East CR 600S, Warsaw; Beverly Brubaker, 67, South CR 1000W, Claypool. According to police, the vehicle driven by Brubaker, struck the vehicle driven by McCammon in the rear, pushing it into the vehicle driven by Burns. Damage up to $2,500.
1:42 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, Argonne Road and King’s Highway, Winona Lake. Drivers: Shantelle Vierke, 25, North CR 575 W, Winamac; Deborah Emmert, 64, River Road, North Manchester. Few details are available, other than according to Winona Lake police, Vierke told police her foot got caught between the accelerator and the brake pedal while she attempted to brake. Damage up to $2,500.
