UPDATE: Two Taken To Hospital After Wednesday Morning Accident
WARSAW — Two people were taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle accident Wednesday morning, Aug. 28.
At 8:56 a.m. Wednesday, Aug, 28, officers with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a two-vehicle accident on Lake City Highway, east of Parker Street, Warsaw.
Jessie L. Savant, 77, West Winona Avenue, Warsaw, was traveling north on Parker Street when he brought his vehicle to a stop and waited for the traffic light at US 30. When the light turned green, Savant proceeded into the intersection when he was struck by a silver 2014 Kia Rio, operated by Travis D. Huffman, 42, Independence Drive East, Elwood.
According to police reports, Huffman said he did not recall the crash and left the scene of the accident. No further information was provided in the report on why Huffman did not remember and left the scene.
Savant complained of hip and upper leg pain as a result of the accident. Both Huffman and Savant were taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital.
The damage was estimated to be as much as $10,000.
