Warsaw Man Arrested In Monday Hit-And-Run Accident
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after allegedly hitting a bicyclist with a vehicle.
Dominique Demond Richardson, 28, 620 N. Zimmer Road, Warsaw, is charged with battery while armed with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony; criminal recklessness while armed with a deadly weapon and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, both level 6 felonies.
On Aug. 26, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a report of a car versus bicycle accident on East Market Street. The officer found the bicyclist, who had lacerations to his head, knees, chest, stomach and elbows.
According to court documents, the bicyclist was traveling on East Market Street when a Cadillac bumped into him. Three men then exited the vehicle and began to yell at the bicyclist and threaten him. The bicyclist then rode away on his bicycle and the Cadillac sped up and hit him from behind. This caused the bicyclist to flip onto the hood of the vehicle, hitting his head on the windshield, court documents said.
Witnesses at the scene said they heard a commotion on Market Street and saw the car intentionally strike the bicyclist.
An officer with the Warsaw Police Department spoke with two people, who admitted that Richardson hit the man on the bicycle.
Richardson was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 27, with a $32,500 surety and cash bond.
