Milford Man Arrested For Allegedly Battering Pregnant Woman, Three Children
MILFORD — A Milford man was recently arrested after allegedly battering a pregnant woman and three children.
Robert Eugene Belt, Jr., 30, 309 S. Henry St., Milford, is charged with domestic battery to a pregnant woman, a level 5 felony; two counts of battery to a person less than 14 years of age by a person at least 18 years of age, and domestic battery with a child under 16 present, all level 6 felonies; and battery and domestic battery, both class A misdemeanors.
On July 17, an officer with the Milford Police Department went to a residence regarding a domestic battery that had occurred. Upon arrival, the officer saw several people crying outside of the residence.
According to court documents, a woman at the residence said she and four children were going to bed. After they all laid down, Belt entered the bedroom and began a verbal argument with the woman. The woman then left the bedroom to avoid Belt, but Belt followed her and battered her.
Belt struck the woman’s upper body with closed fists and ripped out some of her hair. The woman went outside, where Belt picked her up and threw her to the ground. At the time of the battery, the woman was pregnant.
Two children said Belt had pushed them to the ground. A third child at the scene said she was thrown to the ground by Belt.
Belt was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 28, with a $6,000 surety and cash bond.
