Warsaw Wins Annual Grudge Match
DUNLAP – It’s been a fiery and testy matchup over the years, but Warsaw had the last laugh Wednesday in a rare 6-0 blowout boys soccer win at Concord.
Warsaw, which won last year’s contest on a literal last-second goal, didn’t need any such heroics Wednesday. Two goals from Jose Lara and another from Teddy Berelsman put Warsaw up 3-0 at the half, and the Tigers were able to put it in cruise control for the second half. Berelsman, Blake Burns and Eliud Mejia all tallied in the second 40.
Mejia, Burns, Jose Sanchez, Alejandro Murillo and Ethan Grill all had assists in the contest.
Harrison Mevis and Rueben Borja combined to keep the slate clean in net for the Tigers.
Warsaw (6-1, 2-0 NLC) competes Thursday and Saturday at the Fort Wayne Carroll Invite.
