WAWASEE 4, WHITKO 1
Wawasee tennis collected its third win of the season with a victory at Whitko Monday night.
Zach Leedy battled back from a loss in the second set to down David Ousley, 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 at 1 singles. Jack Gibbons won 6-3, 6-3 at 2 singles, Grant Brooks and Blaine Baut won 6-2, 6-1 at 1 doubles, and Holden Babb and Zeke Keim were 6-1, 6-2 winners at 2 doubles.
Whitko won its match point in three sets at 3 singles, where Bryce Tucker topped Colin Rhoades 6-2, 4-6, 6-1.
Whitko won the JV match-up two match points to one.
The Warriors varsity moves to 3-6 on the season.
JOHN GLENN 4, TRITON 1
Triton took a convincing loss to sectionl-rival John Glenn Monday.
Connor Large won, 6-4, 6-1 at 2 singles for the Trojans’ lone match point of the evening. Cole McKinney and Chandler Westafer split sets with Frankie Lizzi and Hoah Dreibelbeis at 2 doubles before fallen in a super tiebreaker,4-6, 6-2, 10-8.
The JV Trojans lost both of their matches.
Triton’s varsity dips to 4-6 with Monday’s result.
PERU 5, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 0
Tippecanoe Valley was swept in a Three Rivers Conference meet with Peru Monday night.
The Vikings won just four total games against the Tigers. Mason Purvis and Annakin Pettit were the most successful, taking one game from Gabe Baker and Ben Reckman at each of their 2 doubles sets before falling 6-1, 6-1.
Valley’s JV lost on all five courts.
GRACE LADY LANCERS 6, SPRING ARBOR 1
Grace’s women’s tennis team continued to make history with a 6-1 win against Spring Arbor on Monday.
The Lady Lancers won their sixth straight match to start the season, marking the best start in program history.
The top four players for the Lady Lancers (6-0, 5-0 Crossroads League) carried the day at Miller Athletic Complex. Emily Mast and Dayana Ortega cruised to a 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, and Carrie Copeland and Jayna Armstrong won 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Mast blew by her opponent 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Copeland won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2. Ortega battled to a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles, and Armstrong was consistent 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4.
Morgan Mast also won at No. 5 singles with a 6-1, 7-6 (3) scoreline.
