Christopher Lee Dean, 28, 72833 CR 29 No. 7, Syracuse, is charged with auto theft and two counts of fraud, all level 6 felonies.
On Aug. 10, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office spoke with a man who said Dean and Burnworth stole his 2012 Chevrolet pickup truck. The man said Dean and Burnworth had been staying at his residence for the last two months.
According to court documents, the man said sometime on Aug. 9, Dean and Burnworth had removed all their belongings from his residence and left in his Chevy truck. They also stole the man’s credit card. The man said his credit card was used at the Speedway location in Pierceton and the Warsaw Walmart. There were also failed attempts of the card’s usage at Tipton, Hebron, Ky.; and Georgetown, Ky. A KCSO officer received surveillance video from Speedway and the Warsaw Walmart and identified Dean as the individual using the stolen credit card.
The Monticello Police Department located the man’s pickup truck at a Walmart in Monticello, Ky., and arrested Dean and Burnworth.
Burnworth was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Sept. 6, with an $11,000 surety and cash bond. A warrant has been issued for Dean’s arrest.
