North Webster Library Offering Beginning Genealogy Class
NORTH WEBSTER — North Webster Community Public Library is offering a beginning genealogy class that will help people get started on researching family ancestry. This five class course will be held at 11 a.m. every Tuesday in October, beginning Oct. 1.
Students will learn the standards for genealogy, how to find information online and in libraries and courthouses, how to organize their research and much more. The course is free and a library card is not needed, but pre-registration is required to attend. Sign up at the circulation desk or call (574) 834-7122.
Seasoned genealogists are invited to an all-day genealogy session at the library on Wednesday, Oct. 2. Attendees are encouraged to bring their laptop computers, genealogy website subscriptions and other resources to share with other genealogists. The library’s Local History and Genealogy Center will also have resources available. Come for a while or stay the whole day. By sharing resources and working together, uncover new information to add to your family history.
Sail Around the World in 108 Days with Don Sheline at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, as he shares his adventures sailing around the world, up the Yangtze River in China and traveling across Russia on the Trans-Siberian Railway Express. Logging 41,000 sea miles, Sheline has visited every continent except the North and South Poles during his lifetime travels. The public is invited to come and experience his travels through photos and narrative.
Paws-To-Read returns to the Youth Department starting on Tuesday, Oct. 1. From 4 to 5 p.m. every Tuesday, handler Janet Krull and her therapy dog Mindy will be at the library where children can sign up for a private 15-minute reading session with this gentle canine. The reading sessions are by appointment only and can be scheduled at the Youth Services Desk or by calling (574) 834-7122 ext. 202.
Inter-library loan is now available for movie DVDs. If the North Webster Library does not have a movie you are looking for, the library staff may be able to obtain it for you from another library.
