Public Meeting Regarding Saving Old Silver Lake School
SILVER LAKE — A public meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, regarding options for a last-ditch effort to save the old Silver Lake School building. The meeting will be held at the old school, 202 E. Sycamore St.
The town of Silver Lake ordered the building be demolished, but it has been staved off, at least temporarily, by an appeal from the property owner.
Bob Gardner will speak at the meeting and talk about how the gym in Knightstown, Ind., used for filming the movie “Hoosiers” was saved. There will also be a business meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday preceding the 6 p.m. public meeting.
Tours will be given of the building.
