Soccer Results: Sept. 24
MANCHESTER BOYS 5, LAKELAND CHRISTIAN 3
The ninth-ranked Squires came to Winona Lake on a roll, and the firepower was too much for LCA to keep pace Tuesday. Two of the top scorers in the state were on display, but it was Harley Kruschwitz and Manchester that found more twine. Kruschwitz, who is listed by MaxPreps as the top scorer in the country, scored two goals and added an assist. Kruschwitz has 33 goals this season in 12 matches, which puts him second in the nation. Adding in 14 assists, his 80 points leads the nation. Caleb Stout, who is 18th in the state with 19 goals, got two of them Tuesday.
Parker Stewart, who is fourth in the state in goals (29) and points (65), notched his fourth straight hat trick and fifth game in a row with at least three goals. Oak Janjaroen, Garret McKeever and Brayden Lane all had an assist for the Cougars in the match. Peter Koller made nine stops in net for LCA, Dillon Gish had three saves to keep Manchester unbeaten at 12-0.
“We man marked those two (Kruschwitz and Stout) and tried to make it difficult,” said LCA head coach Dan Miller. “Credit Brayden Lane and Michael Easterling for sacrificing their normal roles to mark those two players. Parker Stewart again showed why he is such a good player scoring another hat trick.”
NORTHWOOD BOYS 5, ELKHART MEMORIAL 1
NorthWood added another quality result on the road in a big win at Memorial. Jerson Sanchez had a hat trick to pace the Panthers while Trent Edwards and Andre DeFreitas each netted a shot. All five of NorthWood’s goals came in the second half, erasing a 1-0 Memorial lead at the half.
The NorthWood JV also earned a win, 1-0, over the Chargers.
NORTHWOOD GIRLS 7, ELKHART CHRISTIAN 0
NorthWood got its offense in gear with a big result over Elkhart Christian. Emma Martz led the offense with two goals on 10 shots, and single goals came from Caroline Jenkins, Lizzie Hilderbrandt, Ari Topping, Reagan Hartman and Olivia Craven. Emma Graverson and Hartman each had assists in the shutout, which had NorthWood produce 38 shots in the contest. Lili Lomeli and Carly Mast combined on the shutout in net, Lomeli stopping ECA’s only two shots.
NORTHRIDGE GIRLS 6, WAWASEE 0
Wawasee couldn’t slow down Northridge in a shutout in Middlebury. Northridge’s JV also won 6-0.
