Volleyball Results: Sept. 26
WARSAW 3, WAWASEE 1
The annual grudge match in the Northern Lakes Conference went to the Tigers 25-11, 25-22, 20-25, 25-14. Gwyn Bellamy played well on senior night for the Tigers, registering 11 kills and eight digs. Katie Schmidt and McKenna Hawblitzel added nine combined digs as seniors for the Tigers. Kaylee Weeks added 12 kills, Avery Hales 30 assists and eight aces and Kylie Smith 14 digs.
The Tiger JV beat the Warriors 25-11, 25-15. Emily Elliott had 13 assists and Sadie Walden added 10 digs in the win. Warsaw also won the freshman contest 25-22, 25-5. Sophia Adams registered eight aces, three assists and two digs and Lauren Eastwood had seven digs and five each of aces, assists and kills in the victory.
NORTHWOOD 3, NORTHRIDGE 0
The third-ranked Panthers rolled to a 25-14, 25-14, 25-20 win at home against the Raiders. The combination of Maddy Payne and Alana Lehman at the net was too much for the Raiders, the duo teaming for 20 kills with Payne adding five blocks. Caroline Mullet posted 30 assists, 18 digs and two aces in another all-around night, and Kennedy Hochstetler added 11 digs. NorthWood sits atop the NLC at 5-0, a half game ahead of Memorial and full game clear of Warsaw. NorthWood and Warsaw meet next week.
Annika Bennett and Jayden Gessinger each had seven assists and five digs as NorthWood won the JV games 25-19, 25-23.
NORTHFIELD 3, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 1
Valley lost a tough match in the Three Rivers Conference 21-25, 25-22, 21-25, 18-25. Makenzie Woodcox had 21 kills and four blocks, Brayden Baney had 29 digs and two aces and Hannah Engstrand had 38 assists and two aces.
The Valley JV rallied for a 25-9, 20-25, 15-6 win over the Norse. Mallory Durkes led the Vikes with 11 kills.
LAVILLE 3, TRITON 1
The Lancers knocked off the Trojans 15-25, 25-20, 25-12, 25-17 in Hoosier North Athletic Conference play. Lexia Hostrawser had eight kills and six blocks to lead the Trojans, which also had Dylanie Miller post 23 assists, Abbey Viers send down 11 kills and Molly McFarland pick up 17 digs.
Triton defeated LaVille in the JV game 25-18, 24-25, 15-11.
WAWASEE 8TH GRADE 2, EDGEWOOD 0
Wawasee earned a quality win by defeating Edgewood 25-24, 25-19. Jolie Likens, Aly McClintic, Kaydence Shepherd and Emma Yoder combined for 16 digs for the Warriors.
NORTHFIELD 6TH GRADE 2, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 0
Northfield took out Tippecanoe Valley in two games, 25-21, 25-21 in the A contest and 25-16, 25-20 in the B contest.
BLAIR POINTE 6TH GRADE 2, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 1
Blair Pointe won all five contests, going 25-23, 25-13, 15-12 on the A team and 25-19, 25-19 on the B team.
TIPPECANOE VALLEY 7TH GRADE 2, ARGOS 0
Valley won the Argos matchup 25-7, 25-9. Mackaylie Costello had seven aces and two kills, Ella Sandbakken had eight aces and Maddie Thompson had three kills for the Vikings.
TIPPECANOE VALLEY 8TH GRADE 2, ARGOS 0
Valley also controlled the eighth grade matchup with Argos in a 25-7, 25-12 win. Jessa Schroeder had five kills and five aces, Ava Smith had nine aces, Sidney Nelson had three kills and Lilly Allen had four aces.
MILLERSBURG 6TH GRADE 2, MILFORD 0
Millersburg won both rounds of the sixth grade matchup, 25-18, 25-9 in the first go and 25-16, 25-11 in the second go round.
