Neisseria Meningitidis Exposure In Noble County
NOBLE COUNTY — Noble County Health Department has sent out an advisory regarding a neisseria meningitidis exposure in its county. Neisseria meningitidis is a type of bacterium that can cause meningitis.
Officials from the health department report during the past weekend, a dialysis patient of the Kendallville outpatient dialysis unit has been diagnosed with neisseria meningitidis infection.
Because this type of bacteria can cause a potentially life-threatening illness, if a person has had had more than casual contact with a Kendallville dialysis patient during the past week, you should contact the dialysis unit and/or health care provider and/or occupational health care provider for advice (and preventative treatment if indicated).
