Syracuse Man Arrested On Drug Charges, Admits To Dealing Meth
WARSAW — A Syracuse man was recently arrested for allegedly manufacturing and dealing methamphetamine and other drug-related charges.
David Charles Reed, 46, 9811 N. Majestic Way, Syracuse, was arrested for dealing methamphetamine, a level 4 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor; possession of methamphetamine enhancing circumstances, a level 5 felony; and possession of marijuana enhancing circumstances, a class A misdemeanor.
Sept. 25, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office observed a gray Buick traveling westbound on Hatchery Rd., Syracuse. The gray Buick crossed the center line two times, causing the officer to initiate a traffic stop.
The officer identified Reed as the driver of the gray Buick.
An officer with the Winona Lake Police Department was called to the scene of the traffic stop. The officer used his K9 to detect the odor of drugs during a search around Reed’s Buick. The K9 signaled to the officer that it detected drugs.
Shortly thereafter, both officers saw Reed fall to the ground, throwing a clear plastic bag under the vehicle.
The officers determined it contained a clear crystal substance. After testing, the substance was determined to be methamphetamine. The substance weighed approximately 3.5 grams.
After obtaining the methamphetamine, the officers conducted a search of Reed’s vehicle. The officers found scales, empty plastic bags, two smoking devices and a plastic bag containing marijuana.
The officers spoke with Reed, who admitted he had been dealing methamphetamine.
Reed was previously convicted of dealing methamphetamine on Nov. 23, 2010.
Reed was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail, Sept. 26. Bond is set at $20,250 surety and cash.
