Downtown Warsaw Mural Part Of First Friday Festivities
WARSAW — The first public mural in Warsaw will be officially unveiled and recognized during First Friday’s “Art-tober” event on Friday.
Robert Hudson, an artist from Mentone, was commissioned by the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council to paint the mural. The artwork, located adjacent to The Vic at 110 Craft Meatery, depicts the courthouse and Center Lake.
The unveiling of the mural will take place at 6 p.m.
Other art-related activities will also take place from 5 to 9 p.m. at the courthouse square in downtown Warsaw.
But related activities begin much earlier at 6:30 a.m. Friday when en plein aire artists begin painting at multiple locations throughout Warsaw. Sign-in for participating artists will take place at the Latte Lounge in downtown Warsaw. En plein aire is a term used for artists painting in outdoor locations.
Judging for the en plein aire contest will take place at 4 p.m. on the courthouse square.
Kids will be able to participate in arts and crafts activities sponsored by Warsaw Community Schools’ art department during the duration of First Friday. At 5 p.m., attendees can watch the Warsaw Community High School Homecoming Parade. The best viewing locations are on Market, Indiana and Main Streets.
Event sponsors include the Dane and Mary Louise Miller Foundation, the City of Warsaw and Warsaw Community Development Corporation.
