WCDC To Host Downtown Development Tour Wednesday
WARSAW — Warsaw Community Development Corporation will host a Downtown Development Tour from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9.
The event is an opportunity to tour six historic buildings in the downtown historic district of Warsaw. Visitors can see first-hand the superior craftsmanship of artisan builders in these stately buildings while hearing fascinating tales about their history from local historians. This is an event for those who enjoy historic architecture or are looking for a building for a downtown business or development.
Registrants will also enjoy a tour of a newly constructed townhouse in the Buffalo Street Project Development and can learn more about this downtown development directly from developer David Matthews, Matthews Development LLC.
The following buildings are part of the tour:
- The Eagles Building, 113 E. Center St.
- The Arcade and The Elks Temple Building, 120 E. Center St.
- The Times Building, 123 E. Market St.
- The Chapman Block (Phillipson’s) Building, 121-123 S. Buffalo St.
- The Boss Block (State Bank) Building, 202 S. Buffalo St.
- The U.S. Post Office Building, 120 S. Lake St.
The Eagles Building is available for lease on the second and third floors, and The Times Building has leasing space available in the basement studios and second floor. The second floor of the State Bank building is also available for lease.
The Phillipson’s Building is the only historic building available for sale.
“We wanted to do this tour to draw attention to available storefronts and areas that are available for development in the downtown area,” said Trisha Steger, WCDC Main Street coordinator.
WCDC’s Downtown Development Tour coincides with Indiana’s Office of Community and Rural Affairs Downtown Development week, which takes place in communities throughout Indiana from Oct. 7 to 12.
Check-in for the event is at 2:30 p.m. at The VIC at One Ten, 110 N. Buffalo St. The tour of the buildings begins at 3:15 p.m., hosted by Kosciusko County historians. The event will conclude with a reception and Matthews speaking at 5:30 p.m. at the VIC.
Registration is required in advance and costs $10 per person. The event is sponsored by Brian Peterson Realty Group, SRKM Architecture and Mutual Bank.
