Volleyball Results: Oct. 10
WARSAW 3, CONCORD 0
Warsaw wrapped up third place in the Northern Lakes Conference with a 25-8, 25-14, 25-20 run through the host Minutemen Thursday night. The win, the 950th in coach Rick Ashmore’s career, saw the Tigers hammer the ball in high fashion. Kennedy Lauck led Warsaw with 12 kills, with Kaylee Weeks and Gwyn Bellamy each with 11 kills and Abby Sanner with six kills. Kendra Love and Kylie Smith combined for 19 digs and Avery Hales sent up 33 assists and three aces.
Warsaw’s JV also collected a win, 25-19, 25-8 over the Minutemen. Tessa Graney’s 13 assists allowed for Katie McKibben to pound down six kills, with three more from Madi Desenberg. Graney added three aces and three digs.
The Tiger freshman team saw Lauren Eastwood post 23 assists and five aces in a 18-25, 25-17, 15-5 win over the Minutemen. Mallory Mulligan and Rachel Sands each had five kills, Mulligan adding eight aces. Delaney Silveus, Taylie Heady, Tianna Davis, Ryan Darlington and Maylin Marrufo all had three kills for the Tigers, now 14-5 on the season.
Warsaw (24-7, 5-2 NLC) will rematch with Concord next Thursday at the Goshen Sectional.
TIPPECANOE VALLEY 3, SOUTHWOOD 0
Valley enjoyed its senior festivities with a wild 28-26, 25-15, 26-24 slugfest with Three Rivers Conference rivals Southwood. The seniors were at it again for the Vikes, with Makayla Woodcox pounding 16 kills, Hannah Engstrand sending up 38 assists and Amy Baca adding three blocks. Brayden Baney chipped in 17 digs on the backline. Valley wraps its regular season 20-11 overall and 6-3 in the TRC, good four fourth in the conference table. Valley will play either NorthWood or Wawasee next Saturday at the Wawasee Sectional.
The Valley JV were on the short end of a 25-17, 23-25, 14-16 loss to the Knights. Macy Kirchenstien led Valley with 12 assists and seven aces.
SOUTH CENTRAL 3, TRITON 0
South Central got the best of the non-conference matchup in Union Mills, 25-22, 25-16, 25-15. Stat leaders for the Trojans included Abby Viers with eight kills, Dylanie Miller with seven assists, Lexia Hostrawser with three aces and Molly McFarland with 15 digs. The Trojans end the regular season with a 14-16 mark heading into the West Central Sectional next week, prepping for either Argos or West Central.
The Triton JV wrapped up its season 20-7 overall with a 25-15, 25-18 win over the Satellites.
TIPPECANOE VALLEY 8TH GRADE 2, WHITKO 1
Valley got past Whitko by a score of 25-18, 20-25, 15-10. Jessa Schroeder and Sidney Nelson each had five kills and four aces, Nelson adding 10 aces to the win.
TIPPECANOE VALLEY 2, WHITKO 0
Tippy took care of the Wildcats 25-20, 25-15. Mackaylie Costello and Emma Patrick combined for nine kills and seven aces for the Vikes.
TIPPECANOE VALLEY 6TH GRADE 2, TRITON 0
Valley bested Triton 25-17, 25-10.
