Local Woman Sentenced In Two Domestic Battery Cases
WARSAW — A local woman was sentenced in Kosciusko Superior Court Two on Tuesday, Oct. 29, in two domestic battery cases.
In the first case, Kathryn Marriah Rhamey, 27, 3104 E. Wooster Road, Pierceton, was charged with domestic battery, a level 6 felony. In the second case, Rhamey was charged with domestic battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a level 5 felony.
On July 4, 2018, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an injured man in Pierceton. Upon arrival at the scene, the officer saw a man in the back of an ambulance with large lacerations on his nose and next to his left eye. According to court documents, the officer described the man as “covered in blood from head to toe.”
The man said he and a woman, identified as Rhamey, were arguing when Rhamey charged at him and hit him in the face with a ceramic plate. Due to the severity of his injuries, the man was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
On May 25, a KCSO officer responded to a report of a domestic battery and talked with a woman who said she and Rhamey had gotten into a verbal argument. The woman said Rhamey left for a period of time but later returned and resumed the argument.
The woman said Rhamey pulled her hair and hit her. She said she eventually fell to the floor and Rhamey continued to hit her. There were three children in the residence at the time of the battery, according to court paperwork.
In the first case, Judge Torrey Bauer sentenced Rhamey to 1 1/2 years at the Kosciusko County Jail. In the second case, Bauer sentenced Rhamey to 1 1/2 years at the KCJ, all suspended on formal probation. Both sentences will be served consecutively. Rhamey’s jail time credit is to be determined.
