Ranked Lady Lancers Aiming To Add CL Title
WINONA LAKE – In the latest edition of the NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll, Grace’s women’s soccer team received the No. 17 ranking.
The Lady Lancers (14-3-1) have a stiff challenge ahead this week. Grace, the No. 3 seed in the Crossroads League, will host No. 20 Spring Arbor at 1st Source Bank Field for the quarterfinals of the CL Tournament on Saturday at 2 p.m.
The winner will advance to face either No. 15 Marian or Goshen in next week’s semifinal. Grace topped Spring Arbor 2-0 on Oct. 16 thanks to goals by Baylei Peter and Cassidy Wasson.
Grace comes into the tournament looking to add a second Crossroads League title, a 2018 regular season title the first for the Lancers in its program history.
The league is well-represented in the national poll, including Mt. Vernon and Taylor (receiving votes in poll), as well as No. 11 Indiana Wesleyan.
Grace’s only three losses this year are to ranked teams on the road, including No. 4 Southeastern, No. 11 IWU and No. 15 Marian. The Lady Lancers are aiming for their third appearance to the NAIA National Championships since 2015.
