KISSLING CAPS XC SEASON AT STATE
The cross country state finals came to a close Saturday in Terre Haute at the IHSAA State Finals. With its conclusion was the final run from Warsaw’s Jacob Kissling, who represented the Tigers with a 16:47.0 to place 84th overall. Six runners crossed the line within a second either way of Kissling in what was a tight race overall.
Fort Wayne Concordia won the boys team title with 93 points, staying clear of Carmel’s 112 points in the Greyhounds’ runner-up performance. West Noble was 21st, closely followed by New Prairie and Columbia City in the 25-team grid.
Gabriel Sanchez of Lowell was the boys individual champion with a time of 15:28. The top area time was Goshen’s Drew Hogan, who ran a 16:17 to place 27th.
Fort Wayne Carroll made it two-for-two for the Summit City in championships with 101 points, well ahead of Zionsville’s 143 points. Northridge was 16th as the lone area team in the 25-team field.
Erin Strzelecki of Fort Wayne Dwenger won the girls title with a stop of 17:22. Haylie Hile of Northridge had the top area time with an 18:55, taking 27th overall.
